This, the last stretch of the Bournemouth Coast Path, follows the length of Christchurch Bay. However, crumbling cliffs require a new brief diversion at Chewton Bunny. Early on the path passes through the grounds of Highcliffe Castle which writer Simon Jenkins describes as “an architectural phenomenon”. After Barton-on-Sea, where teashops are among the few buildings not to have fallen with the cliff, the coast is more remote as the path is carried over Becton Bunny and down into Taddiford Gap. There are good views of the Isle of Wight and ships calling at Southampton.
